New Cyprus – United Kingdom double tax treaty

A new double tax treaty with the United Kingdom has been signed on the 22nd of March 2018 and will enter into force once ratified by each State. It will replace the existing treaty between Cyprus and the United Kingdom which was signed in 1974.

Special clauses have been inserted in the double tax treaty regarding the withholding tax on dividends, interest and royalties. As far as capital gains are concerned these will be affected if they have arisen as a result of the disposal of immovable property.
